Samara Region is traditionally one of the most advanced industrial regions of Russia. Automobile industry, engineering, oil production, oil processing, chemical and petrochemical industry, metallurgy form the basis of economic development of the region.

A half-century history of Russian astronautics is unthinkable without history of Samara aerospace complex development which is a trademark of Samara Region, its unquestionable competitive advantage.

We can be rightly proud of that the carrier rocket “Vostok”, which was taken by Gagarin Y.A. for his first flight, and engines for this carrier rocket were made in Samara, at JSC “Kuznetsov” and FSUE “State Research and Production Space Rocket Center “TsSKB-Progress”.

Today aerospace branch is one of the key industries of Region where unique carrier rockets and spacecrafts were created and still have been creating. We are the only developers and producers of middle class carrier rockets in Russia with the help of which 2/3 of all launches in the world have been made. Carrier rockets “Soyuz” were acknowledged as the most reliable carriers of middle class in the world.

Automobile industry and production of auto components are also one of backbone industries of Samara Region determining general development tendency of the region. The main producers of automobiles in the region are JSC “AVTOVAZ” and JSC “GM – AVTOVAZ”, more than 1/3 of production of all automobiles in the country falls to its share. More than 250 enterprises are involved in the structure of auto components production.

Petrochemical complex of Samara Region has glorious traditions and history of many years. At the present time 215 investment projects with the total volume of private investments amounting to 652 billion rubles are implemented in the petrochemical complex of Samara Region.

Samara Region is one of the oldest oil-producing regions of Russia, in the territory of which oil production has been realized since 1936. During 76 years more than 1 billion 200 million tons of oil were produced from depths of Samara. At the present time in the territory of Samara Region more than 320 oil fields have been developing. The biggest oil production company is OJSC “Samaraneftegaz”, which is a part of OJSC “OC “Rosneft”. In the territory of Samara Region 73 % of volume of produced oil fall to its lot. Today the share of oil production in Samara Region forms 13,3% from oil production in Privolzhsky Federal District and 2,8% from oil production in Russian Federation.

At present in the oil-processing industry of Samara Region there is a major task on total conversion to the production of engine fuel of european standards which is solving. Since 2011 thanks to massive investment from OJSC “OC “Rosneft” oil refineries of Region have started up petrol production and diesel fuel of Euro-3 standard. Since January 1-st, 2015, all three oil refineries, which are situated in the territory of Samara Region, will start up petrol production and diesel fuel of Euro-4 standard and since January 1-st, 2016 – petrol production and diesel fuel of Euro-5 standard. At the present time the share of motor petrols and diesel fuels production in Samara Region forms 21,3% from volume of production in PFD and 8,8% from volume of production in Russian Federation.

Since the fifties of XX century Samara Region has become one of the centers of chemical industry development of the country. Having been commissioned in 1950s – 60s, Kuibyshevsky plant of synthetic alcohol, Togliattinsky synthesis rubber, Kuibyshevsky nitrogen fertilizer plant, Novokuibyshevsky petrochemical plant and other chemical enterprises have become a basis of chemical industry of the whole country. Today positive dynamics of chemical industry development of Samara Region provides with the biggest enterprises of Region such as JSC “KuibyshevAzot”, JSC “TogliattiAzot”, LLC “Togliatti Caoutchouc”, LLC “Management Company “Sanors”, JSC “Prom Syntez” and others, which increase the volume of production because of the realization of large investment projects aimed at creation of new production and modernization of operating plants.

Samara Region is one of the leaders in the production of such major kinds of industrial production as automobiles, carrier rockets, satellites, motor gasolines and diesel fuel, ammonia, mineral fertilizers, methanol, synthetic rubbers, ethanol, phenol, acetone, nitrobenzene, caprolactam and products of its processing. All these achievements would be impossible without daily and selfless labour of thousands of people of our province who work at industrial enterprises, for training, scientific organizations and construction departments.

I am sure that realization of large-scale projects, glorious traditions, scientific and technical potential, which has been maintained and stored for these years by enterprises and organizations, will enable to keep key positions of Samara Region in the sphere of space exploration, automobile manufacture, oil production and oil processing, chemical industry.

Samara Region assumes high spots in the rankings of investment appeal of Russian regions, as a consequence of active work in the creation of favourable investment climate. Also it associates with considerable investments in the industrial complex, modernization of current production and creation of new production.

Socio-economic development of Samara Region directly depends on the condition of industry, that is why the main tasks of our Department, first of all, consist in support of stable functioning and development of industrial complex of Region, creation of conditions for design, adoption and use of innovations, introduction of import-substituting and alternative technologies at industrial property.
